Bali’s Best Beaches
With so many destinations in the world, it’s hard for me to choose just one- which is why when doing research on any place to visit, I always pick multiple options that intrigue me. Bali, beautiful, Bali is no different.
In preparation for my fabulous summer of 2013 (Ultimate Train Challenge, island hopping & best friend time) I’ve begun digging early!
I’ve found what I believe are the 5 Beaches in Bali to relax at – have you been to any of these gorgeous places? Better yet, do you have the low down on better beaches? Please, share them, I promise to only tell a few thousand very responsible people.
Padang Beach
Padang Beach is the one that’s whispered about in hostel lobbies (okay, yes, and all over the internet) as the secret beach of Bali. After climbing your way to the top on steep narrow stairs, you will be rewarded with a stretch of white sand and crystal blue water. I feel more relaxed just thinking about it!
Candidasa Beach
Candidasa is one beach that seems to be often overlooked (score for me!) due to it’s limited sand at high tide. Some diligent research pays off though. According to the internet (the internet never lies, right?) there’s a secret black sand beach a scenic walk away. I’ve always wanted to lay on a black sand beach- haven’t you?
Sanur Beach
Now this is a scene I could get into. The perfect beach to let the waves lap at your toes while the sun continues revolving around me- I mean- sets gently into the sky.
Sanur Beach is also the home of the Bali Kite Festival, and I may be there in July to watch the spectacle. If I start having flashbacks to The Kite Runner* and start crying, I can always dive into the pristine water and pretend I got something in my eye. *Really, a great read if you don’t mind getting a bit teary eyed.
Balangan Beach
Balangan is touted as one of the best beaches in Bali (say that 5 times fast) and with great reason. Fine sand, surf, bungalows and cheap beer await all who enter. Some of the best memories on a vacation come from those lazy beach days doing nothing but soaking up sun and thanking your lucky stars.
Bring your bathing suit, and leave your cell phone- this is a place to relax.
Impossible Beach
Impossible Beach is perhaps the most intriguing of all! A great place to watch the brave and experienced try to catch a wave, while catching a tan of your own. Of course, if you’re anything like me, it’s also a great place to slather yourself in SPF 50 while wondering what a tan would look like.
Which of these beautiful beaches should I pick for the summer? I simply can’t choose! As my good friend* Jay-Z says “I got 99 problems and a beach ain’t one”.
*He doesn’t actually know I exist…yet.

Don’t worry, Jay-Z will find you and I’m sure you guys would get along.
When are you planning to go to Bali? We’ll be there somewhere between June and August.
