Going Green in San Antonio, Texas

While Texas doesn’t always jump out as a green leader, you’d be surprised to know that San Antonio offers some of the most thoughtful green programs in all of the United States. This is a collection of the most eco-conscious hotels in San Antonio offered by Hipmunk. Whether you are traveling for business or vacation, it’s always a pleasure to give business to hotels who are taking care of the environment.

The Grand Hyatt San Antonio Can Teach Us All A Thing or Two

Part of the draw of the Grand Hyatt is that they know the key to changing the world – and its climate – is education. No one wants to destroy this world, but sometimes we don’t realize how our small actions play out on the grand scale.

Through their recycling program they were able to salvage over 350,000 pounds of materials in 2010 and have only gotten better since then. Every bit of your stay helps add up to this great number. If that isn’t a reason to sleep soundly, I don’t know what is!

They’re also setting the trend in helping kick another bad habit : plastic water bottles. Their sleek new recycled water glass containers give an elegant feel to something as simple as staying hydrated.

Save Money and the Environment at The Westin Riverwalk

The Westin Riverwalk San Antonio is another great hotel option for those who are eco-conscious. All 473 guest rooms are stocked with eco-friendly products and a unique shower head which provides a wonderful showering experience while using 50% less water.
They’ve even implemented a voucher program to incentivize guests to use fewer resources through a $5 per-day discount valid for each day you decline housekeeping. On a long weekend, that savings can add up to a free dinner; score for you, and the environment!

Hyatt Regency San Antonio Has a “Green Team”

Not every hotel can boast they have an entire crew dedicated to working on ways to lessen their environmental impact, but the Hyatt Regency San Antonio can. Their latest change was brand new energy-efficient lighting in hallways which use sensors (and common sense!) to keep hallways dim unless there’s someone in them. Who wouldn’t want to stay with such a logical, progressive hotel?

Hotel Contessa: Organic, Local, Efficient

With a stay at Hotel Contessa, you know everything from the food you indulge in to the shower you take has been designed to be more in harmony with the earth. They pride themselves on sourcing local food – much of it grown right outside the restaurant – and using only organic and natural spa products for a truly holistic stay.

Remember Every Small Action Creates a Ripple

Courtyard by Marriott Downtown San Antonio is a great choice to help cut down on your transportation usage. Their central location mean you are within walking distance of the major sights and will sleep soundly knowing that Marriott has a strong environmental policy that gets better every year.

It’s easier than you’d think to do your part to go green, and with these eco-conscious San Antonio hotels you’re halfway there – the rest is up to you.
