Hipmunk City Love: Budget Hotels in Tokyo

The “Vertical City” is expensive, but you can save money by choosing any of these budget hotels in Tokyo, all under $60 per night!

Hotel Horidome

Hotel Horidome Villa is perfect for business travelers. It is close to the business district, has an on-site restaurant (saving you time to track down good grub), and is less than a 20-minute ride to Tokyo International Airport.

Soho Asakusa Hotel

Soho Asakusa Hotel offers free high-speed Wi-Fi, laundry service, and a great location near Asakusa Shrine, Sensoji Temple, and Sumida Park. Some rooms offer full kitchenettes which include  dining table and chairs, refrigerator, and hot water kettle allowing you to self-cater and cut costs.

Palace Japan Hotel

When you’re travelling with all your electronic items and want to rest assured, stay at Palace Japan Hotel in the Taito-ku district. The guest room safe is large enough to keep your laptop safe while you explore the surrounding area. When it’s time to relax in your room, take advantage of the free DVD player, LCD television, and both wired and wireless internet to keep in touch with the digital world.

Oak Hostel Zen

If you’re in town to spend some quality time at either the Tokyo National Museum or Museum of Western Art, then choose Oak Hostel Zen. The 27 guest rooms and a communal kitchen give this a wonderful and friendly vibe as well as providing privacy when you need it. If you’re overheated after a day of sightseeing, take a dip in the pool to refresh before making your own dinner.

Hotel New Star Ikebukuro

Guests love the hearty, home cooked, and budget friendly food served at Hotel New Star Ikebukuro‘s restaurant. Whether you opt for the full breakfast in the on-site restaurant or coffee in the intimate café, you will love this humble and friendly establishment!

MyStays Kameido

When shopping and access to the train station is high on your priorities list in Tokyo, look to MyStays Kameido for the perfect solution. A short walk to Tokyo Sky Tree, Museum of Contemporary Arts, and Edo-Tokyo Museum means you are also cutting down on transportation costs.

Hotel Empire

Most cheap hotels offer standing showers, but Hotel Empire in Shinjuku knows that everyone needs a good soak sometimes. It’s rare to find a budget hotel in Tokyo that offers bathrooms with rainfall shower heads and bathtubs for under $60 per night, so book early to make sure you’re not disappointed.

Hotel New Tohoku

It’s not every budget hotel that offers luxuries like blackout drapes which allow you to catch up on beauty sleep. Hotel New Tohoku takes it to the next level: complimentary coffee station in the morning, concierge services, and free Wi-Fi are just some of the perks. If you’re really in the mood to relax, ask about their massage services and let yourself unwind.

No matter which of these hotels you choose, you’re sure to have some pocket-money left over to enjoy the best of Tokyo, which is undoubtedly their food, and don’t forget the delicious vegetarian food they offer.
