Blue.
I was tired, and had already been walking for several hours. I could feel my sunburn developing as I walked along the road to the castle which lays perched upon this hill. I wanted to turn around and seek shelter from the sun- to rest- but the straight path beckoned to me. This photo reminds me to keep walking when I am tired, keep my eyes on the goal.
Red.
A day’s boat ride to small Turkish islands. I sit on the deck feeling the breeze. It whipped me in the face, and made the flag on my right flap incessantly. I kept trying to write in my journal, but the flag was insistent. flap. flap. flap. When we dropped anchor, I snapped this shot to remind me of the sweet memory of the flapping flag.
White.
Sometimes you get lucky. Walking down from the snow white travertine of Pamukkale, Turkey (yes, a more obvious choice for the white category) I stopped to watch a young lamb and his mother graze in the front yard of someone’s home. I was just standing there, watching, when the lamb noticed me and got scared. He started leaping towards his momma. I was quick enough to catch him mid-leap, before he nestled himself under her, watching me with wide eyes.
Yellow.
I watched him for a while, yellow pants man. He walked around Park Guell, attempting to sell books. No one wanted to buy. After a long while of walking the park, he got discouraged, or perhaps tired. He sat down to practice the beloved Spanish Siesta, and I was finally able to snap my shot of him, cementing him into my memory.
Green.
This is a tricky one. You can’t tell how verdant the hills are from this photo, because the sun has not yet tossed off her blanket of clouds and raised her beams, stretching and yawning into the sky. To me, this is green before it’s awake… still laying in bed, mired in sweet dreams. Soon these hills in the Fortuna Forest of Panama will be bright, cars may dot the road, and the green will pop with all the intensity of this lush, tropical forest.
As I have just skated in under the wire, there’s no time to nominate fellow bloggers… I’m lucky to have beaten the deadline myself. Thank you again Flora & TravelSupermarket for this fun contest 🙂
