Cheap Hotels in Rome

Many a tourist arrives in Rome without enough advanced planning, hoping to grab a room at the last-minute and score a bargain price. It doesn’t always work that way, however. There might be local holidays going on, events in town you were unaware of, and a myriad of other reasons why there are no budget rooms available. Plus, it’s a real pain to roll or backpack your things around from hotel to hotel on a sunny Roman day or in the rain. Take it from someone who has been there.

Instead, do your research and book in advance, leaving you free to plan out activities near by, scout great restaurants (here’s a great list if you’re a vegetarian or vegan in Rome), and work out transportation to your hotel. This article describes some of the cheapest hotels in Rome. After all, you’re there to see the city, not the inside of your hotel room. Save on the room and splurge on the rest of the experience!

Excel Roma Montemario

When a hotel has the word Excel in their name, you know it’s a good play to stay. But when you see it has an outdoor pool, workout center, is only 500 meters from the train station, and is only $34 per night, you’ll be scrambling to press “book” before this unicorn of a hotel is gone. But wait, there’s more — a lush garden, free on-site parking, complimentary Wi-Fi, and an event center make this an easy choice for your next stop in Rome. Check out the beautiful photos, and see for yourself.

A Room With a View

If you enjoy garden views while sipping your morning coffee, you’re not alone. Regal Park Hotel is outside Rome’s city center, near the famous and lush garden Parco de Veio. It’s less than a 20-minute drive to Saint Peter’s Basilica. This is a perfect place for those on a budget who also like serenity during their travels, as it’s no secret that downtown Rome is a bit hectic. The best is yet to come — their nightly rate is only $35, making this a veritable steal.

Another budget hotel in Rome with free parking? Yes, you read that right. Quality Hotel Rouge et Noir Rome will leave you in the best of both worlds. Though it’s not in the center of Rome, they have a free shuttle which provides pickup and drop-off services, saving you even more money on transportation, and letting you relax without attempting to navigate the bus or metro system. Art lovers rejoice, as the hotel is only seven kilometers from the Borghese Gallery and tranquil surrounding gardens.

While Italy is known for price-gouging and bleeding your wallet dry, take heart that you’ve been a good Internet sleuth and will arrive in the city ready to make the most of your hard-earned money. A stay at any of these budget hotels in Rome will keep your accommodation costs low and the room quality high!
