Planning a Conscious Visit to Naples, Italy

Contrary to initial appearances, Naples is a leader in sustainable tourism in Italy and well aware that they need to protect their beautiful natural resources which draw so many tourists if they wish for it to be an ongoing business.

What does this mean for you on your upcoming trip to Naples? If you want to take care of the planet while exploring it: a lot. Here’s a few examples of companies and restaurants that will help you plan an eco-friendly visit to Naples, Italy.

See The City on Two Wheels

Naples is enjoying their new bike lane and locals and visitors alike are thrilled at the new reality of the Naples seaside: dining al fresco while staring out at the sea without having to breathe in exhaust or shout to be heard over the sound of speeding cars.

Bike Tour Napoli is one of the leading tour companies in Naples and they offer several tours depending on what you want to get out of your visit. For food lovers try their Vineyard and Farm tour where you will cycle through picturesque parts of the city, indulging in local, organic food and learning about the land from which you’re eating. Nature lovers rejoice: the Waterways and Craters tours offer an up-close and personal look at the landscape of beautiful Naples while protecting it at the same time!

Have a Comfortable and Conscious Stay with Royal Continental Hotel

No matter which eco-conscious activities you decide on for your stay in Naples, you will want to select a hotel who lives up to their word of caring for the environment while providing you the same level of comfort you could expect in any top hotel. Look no further than the Royal Continental Hotel Naples for a wonderful stay at a great price.

This hotel is serious about practicing what they preach and vice versa – they’ve even created a responsible tourism comic that you can read online. It helps the customer see hotel responsibility from all angles: the happiness of the local workers, minimizing plastics, and sourcing the best local products — no one wants to travel to Italy to eat German Mozzarella! Speaking of food…

Eat Mouth Watering Local Offerings

Italy is a food destination for many reasons, but one of the major factors is the impeccable quality of ingredients grown in the country. Be sure you’re eating true Italian food when you visit and try some of the famous local dishes.

An easy favorite is Spaghetti ali Puttanesca (but don’t translate the meaning, Puttanesca is not a nice word!) which marries flavors of ripe olives, spicy peppers, and tomatoes so rich they could make even a carnivore cry with delight.

One cannot mention Naples and not talk of pizza, one of the best pizzerias in the city is Gino Sorbillo whose long standing tradition means long lines that are worth every minute!

Make this trip to Naples a great one for yourself and future generations by choosing only activities and companies which make use of local employees, promote eco-friendly transportation, and protect the heritage of monuments.

Interesting post about Naples. I’ve only been to Puglia and for me it was the best in Italy , thinking about visiting Naples next summer.
