Going, Going, Green! Amsterdam’s Conscious Side

Visiting Amsterdam is wonderful for so many reasons: lush greenery, tranquil alleyways, and the simple beauty of the slow rhythm of life, some things about Amsterdam just never change. However a new trend is taking root and doesn’t appear to be going anywhere: the city is taking major strides towards becoming an even greener destination. Of course bikes have long been an icon of the city, but now even more eco-friendly manners of living and transportation are available. So how can you have a conscious visit to Amsterdam?

Stay At Conscious Hotel Museum Park

When you want to relax and enjoy your vacation while helping the environment, and without losing quality of service, look no further than the Conscious Hotel Chain. They have two hotels in Amsterdam but the Museum Square location boasts a beautiful property, furniture built from sustainable forests, and a 100% organic breakfast that leaves guests fueled with clean energy for a long day of sightseeing. They partner with several local and responsible companies in Amsterdam as well, so when you check in just let them know you’d like to explore the green side of the city and they will give you a wealth of information to places like the next door BBQ restaurant or let you know about the next pop-up dinner they are hosting!

Move Around Amsterdam in Style and Silence

If you’ve been dying to drive (or be driven) in an electric car, hello Tesla!, your search is over. Amsterdam is proud to support their electric taxi fleet and with their simple online booking form you are able to plan ahead for airport pickup, or a day trip from the city. Bear in mind that the standard electric cars only have a range of 140 kilometers.
Of course, for short distances it’s better to rent a bicycle and get a great workout while getting an up close and personal look at the city.

Eat Organic, Local, Sustainable and Most of All — Delicious Food

There’s no shortage of delectable food in Amsterdam – thank goodness for all the bike riding to wear it off – but when it comes to choosing where to dine, let your stomach and your conscience be your guide. Roots is a juice bar who uses exclusively organic ingredients and is renown for their fresh produce, lush salads, and gluten-free breads.

Flinders Café is one of those restaurants that can quickly become a home away from home. Digital Nomads will love their fast WiFi connection and spacious dining room, healthy eaters and those who like to indulge alike find plenty of options on the menu, and families traveling with children love the “pureéd to order” option on the menu that lets you nourish your little ones with fresh, real food they can eat. If you roll out of bed late, don’t worry, Flinders serves breakfast till 16:30 daily letting you vacation as you please.

Whether you’re visiting Amsterdam for pleasure, business, or a combination of both, you now have the keys to enjoy a responsible vacation in the Venice of the North.
