The Pleasure of Doing Nothing and Loving It

This is a large part of why I love travel so much. You are transported back to the feelings of a child. Everything is new and exciting and unfamiliar- you don’t always understand everything that’s going on, and you can find amazement in something as simple as throwing rocks into the ocean, or counting the petals of a flower.

Spring Has Sprung and I’m Twitterpated

I reached up for vines growing from the rock and used these to pull myself up as I got a footing in a convenient little hole in the rock. This hole was REALLY useful, until the snake popped his head out of it, right before I put my foot in his face.

Slow Food, Slow Life in Monemvasia Greece

I am learning so many new things, not just about Greece and what is around me but about food, living, the earth, and how to be mindful of consumption & waste. This morning I picked a head of broccoli from the garden and prepared it for a soup- the only things I threw away were the leaves on the side. This blows my mind! Granted, I have always looked down on things like bagged salad and premarinated meats- but this is a whole different level of cooking, and living.

Conscious Living in Monemvasia, Greece

Usha lives an Eco lifestyle. We are living with solar panels instead of electricity, the water we drink we collect from a spring, the food we eat comes from the garden- it takes time to live this sort of lifestyle and this is how I will be spending my days.

Olga’s Dream Jar

The jar must always stay out, in plain sight, so that you see it every day and remember that all your hopes, dreams and aspirations in this world are within your grasp- both literally, and figuratively. From time to time she must take the jar and look at every piece of paper inside, to remind herself of where she wants to be.

Hold your tongue- I dare you.

Yesterday while I was working the front desk at the hostel (how does that always happen to me?) a man entered the door. Probably 60 years old, a scraggly beard, weathered face, hair that hadn’t been cut in a year, and to top it off- he was bleeding profusely from his finger! Great.

Couchsurfing- More than a couch

“…Stay in a strangers house?! Alone? as a female? That doesn’t seem safe!” The idea in itself does seem risky, but Couchsurfing has implemented several ways for surfers to be selective in choosing their host based on their verification & vouched status. I know you’re intrigued, read on…

Put Your Head On a Stick And Other Greek Advice

I sat there, in the rain under a canopy of trees with the music pouring out the doors and windows, with wine in my glass and oil on my lips with a stupid smile across my face. In fact, it’s still there. I cannot help that it is the small things in life that make my heart sing.

The trouble with Greece…

I love this country and have since before I initially set foot in it. After my first trip in 2006 I thought back on this country as a magical place where the sky was unlike any other place in the world. The food, the people, the drinks, the language- I loved it all, and always thought back to it fondly.
