The Best Smart Phone for International Travelers

Did you notice I’ve been posting more photos to my Facebook and twitter accounts?
I’ll tell you why : I finally found a smart phone that fits into my traveling life and doesn’t cost a fortune. The Energy Sistem Energy Phone Max (besides being a mouthful to say) is the perfect solution to international travelers phone questions.
I can’t pretend to be a tech savvy gear head, but I do know how to get some serious miles out of my phone, so let me tell you why I love the Energy Phone Max for all my travels.

This Baby is Unlocked

First and foremost, the phone comes unlocked which means I am no slave to any phone service provider (because they are 99% awful) or that I have to risk my brand new phone getting unlocked and possibly damaged right out of the box, not to mention the additional costs incurred.

It has space for two SIM cards; why does this matter?

It allows me to keep my primary phone number which I’ve used for 4 years and has all my main contacts. Then I can rock up to a new country, buy a local SIM card and make phone calls and texts to all my newfound friends.
Another little trick is that you can buy a SIM which includes internet and tether your laptop to that, so your phone is now also a mobile router. Pretty sweet, right?

Do I really need two cameras?

Um, yes. Let’s be honest here, we travel to see the sights of a new place with our own eyes. And about two seconds later, we whip out our cameras to capture to scenery for all those back home. And two seconds after that? It’s selfie time, it’s a sad but true reality. Energy Sistem knows you’re selfie inclined so that front camera lets you see yourself so taking a selfie is quick work instead of an hour long process.

Is this smart phone expensive?

No! Far from it, actually. It is 129 Euro and ships within all of Europe for a modest fee. Not bad, especially when you stack the stats and fees next to the new iPhone.

What’s the downside?

No product is perfect, but this one comes close. After working with it for over two months the only really bad feature I’ve found is how easy it is to dismiss multiple alarms in the drop down menu. However, that’s my own fault due to my love for blackout curtains and hitting the snooze button one billion times.

The bottom line:

This phone is perfect for someone who wants a cheap alternative to the iPhone. More money saved on gear means more money for the road. The best part is Energy Sistem offers a FREE 36 month guarantee on all their products. Who else is doing that?
In fact, Energy Sistem and I have a great relationship and I wholeheartedly recommend their products to anyone looking for great electronics at awesome prices. Check out my review of their Sport Cam Pro, it’s a wonderful budget alternative to the GoPro.

Please note that Energy Sistem gave me this phone so that I can offer a real, first hand account of what their product can offer to international travelers. Your trust as a reader is my first priority and I only work with companies whose products and/or services I believe in.
