Summer 2014 Recap

After taking a few months off of writing for the website, it’s only fair to let you know what’s been keeping me away.

Since my blogger’s burnout, I found myself loving less the travel writing world, but never did I stop loving travel, it simply felt cast in another light : it became “real work”; I felt as though I was turning tricks with each sponsored post I wrote. So I pulled a Snoop Dogg, and dropped it like it’s hot.

Luckily, time away gave me perspective; I am fortunate to be able to have this channel to make ends meet!

In the meantime I found a renewed sense of love for my second home, writing about Madrid for AFAR, and put together highlights of the city that I have grown to adore more than I ever thought I could in a place that is not by the sea. Please take a moment to see what my perfect day in Madrid means.

I’ve also found love. It came in the form of a tall, dark, handsome man who supports and shares my dreams of travel, living a location independent lifestyle and having a life of adventures. This was our first (of many) trip together and to make sure we travel well together, we did a short jaunt – 6 weeks – to visit our European neighbors:

tram in Oporto, Portugal

tram in Oporto, Portugal

FRANCE : Marseille, Aix-en-Provence, Paris, La Groie, Bordeaux
PORTUGAL : Oporto & Lisbon
SPAIN : Santiago de Compostela & Islas Cies

As another first, I put together a video of the trip, so you can virtually visit these places while having breakfast in front of the computer, and don’t have to click through like a pesky slide show!

What do you think :do you like the video, or do you prefer a gallery where you’re in total control? My wish is your command…

What did you do this Summer? Put some links in the comments, so I can see your adventures, too!
